2016 marked a significant milestone in my life—I completed the Professional Diploma Course in Family Ministries at CEFAM. It was a year-long journey that I took on with both trepidation and courage. Every requirement, every paper, every session demanded effort and heart. And yet, through the rigors of that year, I found myself reawakened. After three decades away from formal study, I was once again hooked on learning.
There were moments I paused to ask myself, Why am I doing this? I had just retired from a 35-year career in banking—it should’ve been time for travel, painting, exploring new art techniques, and catching up with friends. Instead, I found myself delving into subjects like Spirituality, Psychology, Relationships, even Clinical Disorders. I kept thinking, Just get through the year. Finish this. Then you’re free.
Graduation eventually came, but so did a surprising realization—I was enjoying it. So much so that I enrolled in the Apprenticeship Program. One more year of deeper immersion. More tasks. More community work. And again, I found myself at crossroads: Should I continue? Or finally walk away and do something else?
But I kept going. I finished. And slowly, without even noticing it, I began counseling real clients.
That was the turning point.
In those sacred conversations, I experienced something mystical. A deep sense of alignment. I was truly present with my clients—understanding them, holding space for their stories, resonating with their pain and their hope. It was no longer just about acquiring knowledge—it became about grace. I was sharing my time, talent, and treasure. And the joy was immeasurable.
Eventually, I pursued my Master’s Degree in Counseling, seeking to deepen my knowledge and strengthen my ability to serve. While working on my thesis, a spark ignited—one that merged two of my greatest loves: Art and Healing. That spark birthed my exploration of Therapeutic Art, an approach I now bring into my sessions to help clients express themselves, unlock their emotions, and discover new dimensions of self-awareness.
Truly, the Holy Spirit was—and continues to be—ever-present in this journey.
Adsumus, Sancte Spiritus.
We stand before You, Holy Spirit.
Heal well.
Express well.
